Trust and transparency

Where do FXConverter’s rates come from?

From Open ER-API. FXConverter stores the retrieved quotes and the public pages read that store. See Exchange-rate source.

How often are rates retrieved?

Periodically. The site does not promise a fixed interval, because the schedule can change. See How FXConverter retrieves rates.

Are the rates live?

No. They are the latest stored quotes, not a live market feed. The pages say so next to the timestamp.

What does “latest stored rate” mean?

It is the most recent quote FXConverter accepted into its current store for that currency. It is not a claim that a market is being streamed.

How are currency pairs calculated?

USD is the reference. A pair rate from A to B is quote(B) divided by quote(A). See How a currency pair is calculated.

What does the timestamp mean?

“As of … UTC” is when FXConverter successfully stored the underlying quote for the currency you are converting from. It is not the provider’s market clock and not the time the page was drawn. See Timestamps.

What happens if an update fails?

The last accepted quotes stay in place. A failed retrieval does not wipe them. See Freshness.

Are historical rates live?

No. They are derived from historical stored USD-anchored quotes, by UTC date. Missing days are left out. See Historical rates.

Are FXConverter rates transaction prices?

No. They are indicative reference information. A bank, broker, or card price can differ. See Indicative rates.

Is FXConverter a bank or broker?

No. It is not a bank, broker, exchange office, payment provider, money-transfer service, trading platform, investment service, or financial adviser, and it does not execute transactions.

Does FXConverter use Google Analytics?

Yes. FXConverter uses Google Analytics for website usage analytics. Details are on the Privacy Policy.

Does FXConverter use Google Tag Manager?

Yes. FXConverter uses Google Tag Manager to manage website tags. When this text was written, the published container had no tags. The loader is still present. See the Privacy Policy.

What cookies does FXConverter use?

The application uses PHPSESSID for the server session and fsc16_cw for a currency watch list. Google may set its own cookies when Analytics or Tag Manager run. Those Google cookies are not listed here because this site does not define them. See the Privacy Policy.

How can I contact FXConverter?
